MY HOME IN LA VEGA
The Exterior: a World to Discover
The swimming pool and the Jacuzzi
Surrounded by gorgeous gardens, there is a big swimming pool for the pleasure of all, both big and small.
There is a table, some “long chaises” and two benches under a gazebo covered by climbing orchids which will allow you to choose your favorite spot.
The Jacuzzi, beside the swimming pool, will become your favorite spot during the evening.
The BBQ area
In the back of the house, beside the kitchen, there is the BBQ area. You will find a wood BBQ that can be covered to prepare delicious “Mechui”.
Also, you will find a wood oven to prepare delicious jams, pizzas, or any other plate you want to cook.
Your mouth is not watering thinking of your next vacations.
What about the view in this area. Do you imagine yourself preparing your supper or sipping your favorite drink in this area of the house?
The paths in the woods
Because the terrain is quite uneven, as is most of the central part of the country, we have built paths for your comfort and security. Through them you can visit the property and enjoy the magnificent vegetation. Little by little, these paths will become a learning environment where you will find the names of the plants and animals that inhabit the area.
Plants and flowers
Fruit trees
You will find mature lemon, tangerine, orange, cocoa, mango, banana and plantain trees of various species on the site. If quantities permit, you can eat some fruit on site. However, it is forbidden to climb trees or harvest the fruit yourself. Just ask the person in charge to gather any fruit in season for you.
Ornamental plants
Thanks to the elevation and climate of La Vega, you will find a great variety of ornamental plants, particularly orchids, heliconias and bromeliads. Below is a small sample of the orchids that you may observe, depending on the season of your visit.
The birds
Did you know that Colombia is the country that has the greatest diversity of birds in the world? More than 1800 species live in our country.
At La Casa Bonita, you can see a large number of species and even see them up close if you share with them a bit of fruit (banana or papaya) and some birdseed.
The manual of La Casa Bonita contains many photos of birds observed on the finca, identified by their scientific name and common name in Spanish, English and French.
Here is a small sample of some of our visitors.
